Is it safe to give apps access to my email? I'm scared they can hack my account or steal my money

Hey everyone, I've been thinking about this a lot lately and it's kinda freaking me out.

Every time I sign up for a new app or website, they ask for access to my email. You know, "Sign in with Google" or "Allow this app to read your emails." And I just click yes because I want to use the thing. But lately I've been wondering — is this actually safe?

Like, can these apps read all my emails? Can they see my bank statements, my personal stuff, everything? And worse, could someone actually hack into my account through one of these permissions and steal my money?

I probably have like 20 or 30 apps connected to my Gmail at this point and I honestly don't even remember what half of them are. Is that bad? Should I be worried?

Has anyone here ever had a problem with this? Or am I just being paranoid? I'd really appreciate some honest answers because I'm starting to lose sleep over it.
